Help with Clicky
How does Clicky work with my web site?
After you have registered your site with Clicky, you are given a few lines of HTML code that you need to copy into your web site. Clicky can only track clicks on pages that have this code. Most web pages have what are called "header" and "footer" files, or sometimes "template" files. These are chunks of your web site that are automatically included on every page. By putting the tracking code into any of these files, it will automatically start working with every single page on your web site! If you do not have headers or footers, you will have to copy the tracking code onto every single page manually that you want us to track. Unfortunately there is no way around that!WordPress
Self-hosted WordPress Blog
If you have a self-hosted WordPress blog (e.g., not on the wordpress.com domain), we recommend installing our WordPress plugin to get you up and running quickly. Otherwise, you'll have to put the tracking code into a text widget in the sidebar. More information on managing your blog and widgets is available on the wordpress.com web site. You can manage your widgets from the following area of your admin control panel: Presentation » Sidebar Widgetswordpress.com blog
If your blog is hosted on the wordpress.com domain, then you do not have the ability to add JavaScript to your page. However, Clicky also has an image based tracking system that you can use instead, which will work with wordpress.com blogs. It is not quite as detailed - for example, we can't track incoming searches or links to your site without JavaScript - but you may still find it quite useful. The image based 'no javascript' tracking code is on the same page as your normal tracking code, near the bottom. Place this code in a text widget in your sidebar.TypePad
The tracking code needs to go into a "Notes TypeList" in your sidebar. You can put it in any existing ones you already have, or create a new one just for Clicky. This works with both basic and advanced templates. TypePad has further details on how this is accomplished on their web site here. (Thank you to John for providing this information).Blogger / Blogspot
There are two different ways to do this, depending on if you have the 'new' Blogger or the 'old' Blogger. Either way, you need to go to your blog management page, click the 'template' tab at the top, then click 'edit html'.NEW Blogger
For the new Blogger, place your tracking code at the very bottom, right before the </body> tag.
OLD Blogger
If you are still using the old blogger, put your code somewhere in the 'sidebar' area, as shown below.
MySpace
MySpace does not allow external JavaScript to be inserted into your profile, which is what really makes Clicky tick. However, Clicky also has an image based tracking system that you can use instead. It is not quite as detailed - for example, we can't track incoming searches or links to your site without JavaScript - but you may still find it quite useful. The image based 'no javascript' tracking code is on the same page as your normal tracking code, near the bottom.
